Magnac Laval in the Haute Viene
"La Fermette" combines authentic coziness with modern living comforts. The house has a heated and covered swimming pool in a park-like garden, crowded by many birds (including oriole and hoopoe) and squirrels. Here you can really enjoy the tranquility of the countryside. And yet within walking distance of the pleasant town of Magnac Laval. In the nearby towns of Le Dorat and La Souterraine are the (international) train connections. Limoges and further away Brive have an airport.
Entrance through the kitchen or the dining room/salon. Immediately you notice the original beams, the stone wall, the light colors, and the beautiful oak doors. The handcrafted railing of the staircase is wood with molding. Built-in pellet stove and floor with "flatstone" tiles. Adjacent to the living/dining room is a generous bedroom and there is also a shower toilet downstairs. An attached garage is used as a workspace with washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and fridge with an additional room with attic behind it. On the second floor is a corridor to two lovely large bedrooms, each with its own 'en suite' shower/toilet area.
Lush park garden with old trees. There is a heated and covered pool (7x3x1.20) and a summer kitchen with a bar. Also a permaculture vegetable garden (42 square meters), an open outdoor barn and an indoor barn.
The house was renovated in 2015 where electricity was completely replaced with a generous amount of groups. There is also central gas heating throughout the house. The pellet stove normally provides heat downstairs. Cooking is done on gas and behind the house, invisible, there is a gas tank. In 2015, the entire house was well insulated. Also in 2015 the upstairs was renovated with the original beams exposed.
In 2021 there was a second thorough renovation, including new exterior doors with double glazing and replacing all pine doors with handmade oak doors with glass for even more light throughout the fermette. The Fermette is connected to the municipal sewer system, so no septic tank.
