You can spot them right away: real estate listings written by some AI tool or another. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude\u2026 they aren\u2019t exactly good at it. But they all write real estate listings a lot easier and faster than many sellers could themselves. That\u2019s why it\u2019s tempting to outsource the writing of real estate listings to an AI bot. <\/p>\n\n

Oh, really? So, what's wrong with AI-generated real estate listings? <\/h2>\n\n

An AI tool writes an ad copy the way it thinks an ad should look. In other words, full of advertising. But in nine out of ten home-selling descriptions, that advertising just gets in the way of a clear understanding of what\u2019s being offered. It\u2019s riddled with clich\u00e9s. <\/p>\n\n

An AI sales pitch often begins as follows:<\/p>\n\n

What does this say?<\/h2>\n\n

\"A charming home in a rural setting, yet close to amenities.\"<\/p>\n\n

The rest is just fluff, hot air. It\u2019s marketing jargon that doesn\u2019t make you any wiser. And home seekers who\u2019ve been looking at listings for a few hours already quickly get sick of all that flowery bullshit (pardon my French). <\/p>\n\n

How would you write an OG sales pitch, then?<\/h2>\n\n

The buyer wants to be provided with concrete information. So something like: <\/p>\n\n

\"Former farmhouse dating from around 1900 with 2,500 m\u00b2 of land. Living surface of 180 m\u00b2 with a living room, kitchen, three bedrooms, and a bathroom on the ground floor. Rural setting, 230 meters from the nearest neighbors; no noise or light pollution. And yet just a 5-minute walk from a village center with a bakery, butcher, caf\u00e9, a regionally renowned and affordable restaurant, post office, and elementary school. The larger city of [name], with all its supermarkets, home improvement stores, and medical facilities, is a 15-minute drive away.\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

Exactly the same amount of text, but the home seeker is immediately a lot wiser. And now they might be thinking to themselves: \u201cImagine if I could live there!\u201d <\/p>\n\n

So why use AI to write real estate listings anyway?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
